Born A Crime!

Before reading this book, I wasn’t even familiar with Trevor Noah. I had seen him a few times on TV, his book was a best seller and the cover looked interesting so I gave it a go.

This book was absolutely phenomenal, as it told the sad but inspiring memoir of Trevor Noah who grew up in South Africa during apartheid (modern day slavery & colorism).

Trevor was born of an African mother and a white father, which was illegal (born a crime). His mother was a revolutionists, independent woman, and a care free spirit. She had Trevor with a white man on her own terms and did that so Trevor could enjoy a better life through his skin color.

The mother-son relationship is one like no other. Even in the depths of a apartheid in South Africa, Trevor’s mother showed him all parts of South Africa so he knew one day he could go on to great things.

I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn more about Trevor Noah, South Africa, or Womanhood and perseverance at its finest.
